This December, Peru will host the 20th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 20), shining a light on Latin America’s role in combating climate change.
As a helpful tool to show the impact of climate change in Latin American countries as well as the opportunities that the sub-region presents for investment into clean energy, Climate Action has put together a stunning infographic with over 25 useful facts and statistics.
Did you know?
– Latin America and the Caribbean are home to 23% of the forests and 31% of the world’s freshwater.
– This region is directly responsible for only 12% of global emissions of greenhouse gases.
– Between 2000 and 2010 there were 630 climatic events in Central and South America causing 16000 deaths.
